CITY OF SYLVANIA POLICE REQUEST ASSISTANCE

PRESS RELEASE - AUGUST 11, 2010

The City of Sylvania Police Division’s Accident Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident at the intersection of Monroe and Silica.  On April 19, 2010, at approximately 1:56 PM,   the driver of the motorcycle, Rick Rash, was westbound on Monroe Street approaching the intersection of Silica.  An unknown silver vehicle that was northbound on Silica made a right turn in front of Mr. Rash’s motorcycle.  Mr. Rash was forced to lay the motorcycle down to avoid hitting the silver vehicle.  The unknown silver vehicle continued eastbound on Monroe Street and failed to return to the accident scene.  Mr. Rash, a few weeks later, passed away from injuries resulting from the accident.

The unknown vehicle is described by witnesses as a smaller, late model silver vehicle, possibly a Honda Civic.  The driver is a younger white male with dark hair.  At the time of the accident, the driver was talking on his cell phone.
