School Resource Officers

School Resource Officers

In cooperation with area Sylvania school officials, the Sylvania Police Division provides three certified School Resource Officers (SRO) to work in schools within the City of Sylvania.

The role of the SRO is to assist in providing an atmosphere of safety and security in the schools they serve. They interact daily with faculty, staff and students, both during school hours and at extra-curricular activities.

The SRO makes classroom presentations on many topics related to substance abuse, school violence and those related to law enforcement. They assist school officials in intervention and counseling, and act as resource people in matters related to crime prevention, safety and violence prevention.

Current SROs are assigned to:

  • Northview High School (full-time)
  • Southview High School (full-time)
  • McCord Junior High School as an SRO and as D.A.R.E. Officer at Sylvania elementary schools
Both high school SROs maintain office hours in their respective schools and may be reached through the school's main office. They may also be reached through the Office of Community Affairs at 419-885-8906.
