The City of Sylvania Police Explorers is a worksite-based program for young men and women in two age groups: those who have completed the 8th grade and are 14 years old, and those who are 15–20 years old.

Explorers gain leadership skills and confidence through their many experiences in our program. They learn about police work by attending classes that offer instruction and scenarios related to law enforcement. After successfully completing the requirements, Explorers can ride along with officers on the job. They participate in many community activities and gain a new respect for law enforcement and the community.

Many Explorers have gone on to become police officers. Many more choose other careers and use the skills they have learned in the Explorer program to become successful adults.
